To celebrate NAIDOC week (1st – 8th July) ABC Open is asking people all across Australia to share a dream from indigenous Australia.
How it works:
Over the past year ABC Open has been collecting the dreams of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders from photo booths all around the country for our online gallery DreamBox. http://open.abc.net.au/projects/dreambox-41gz2pv#/discover
We asked people to write their dreams on a chalkboard and then be photographed holding them. These photos capture Indigenous life in Australia, both the current reality and the future aspirations that these Australians hold for themselves and their communities.
Some dream of being a football star, some dream for better health care. Others dream of finding a job or finishing high school. Nearly 2000 dreams have been captured in this unique collection.
This NAIDOC week we’re inviting everyone to explore the DreamBox and share the dreams. It might be a dream you also have for yourself, or it might be a dream that you really hope will come true for the dreamer.
Choose your favourite dream and share through Facebook, Twitter or email and let someone know their dream matters. We’ve attached 6 photos – you might like to share one of these or choose your own from the DreamBox photo gallery. http://open.abc.net.au/projects/dreambox-41gz2pv#/discover
Sharing dreams connects all of us through our shared aspirations for a better future for all our dreamers this NAIDOC week.
