An Important Message from Brian Butler

I am at my wits end! I have reached my tether at the almost daily request for support from our young Aboriginal and Islander (including the Torres Strait) youth who are continually experiencing rejection from Aboriginal Organisations when they are seeking Confirmation of Aboriginality.

The young people this is happening to are the current children of the stolen generations and their grandchildren.

It must stop Now!

Today I will be placing an AGENDA ITEM to the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples (NCAFP) for immediate action to ensure that all Aboriginal children are, at birth, given their proof of Aboriginality.

This is the only way we will see this practice of control and rejection through lateral violence at the hands of Aboriginal Organisations halted in its tracks.

Yours in Unity through Lateral Love & Spirit of care for all Humankind,

Brian Butler

  1. An interesting discussion is worth comment. I do think that you should publish more
on this topic, it may not be a taboo matter but typically people do not speak about such subjects.
    To the next! Cheers!!

Everything is very open with a very clear description of the challenges.
It was really informative. Your website is extremely helpful.

    Many thanks for sharing!

  3. Hello from Canada Brian.

I have extensive experience working with the Shuswap, Chilcotin, Carrier, Nuxalk and Heiltsuk First Nations in the Central Interior of British Columbia, Canada. I commend the work you do and the causes you champion. I also appreciate your following my blog.

My fight with the 100 Mile House RCMP, well-documented on my blog, is all about justice for aboriginal people. Too many aboriginal men and women die in RCMP cells for lack of respect, lack of compassion and most of all … colossal ignorance. My case may help to put an end to these senseless deaths.

Once again Brian …. thank you.

Admiring the time and energy you put into your site and in depth information you
offer. It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t
the same out of date rehashed information. Fantastic
read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google

I once heard (in a TV program about the genocide of Tierra del Fuego and the few surviving people there with first nation ancestors) that in Argentinia, you gain your status as belonging to a first nation by self definition. I think this is a good idea and should be considered. Many people are of mixed origin (both culturally and genetically) but why should one draw a line. In the end, this is not a question of genes but of culture (a dfinition based on genetics would be essentially racist, in my opinion).

  8. this a loophole in how the Australian Government can reclaim land titles – by disinheriting the next generation via making it difficult to claim indigenous birth. What the Australian Government has given away – will one day reclaim back – given time!
