Sunday 9 December 2012 – Lateral Love Australia Song of the Week
Stolen … by Andrew (AJ) Davis
A heart wrenching song written and performed by Andrew (AJ) Davis about the Australian Aboriginal “Stolen Generations” in the spirit of reconciliation.
Andrew (AJ) Davis is a Ngarrindjeri, Barngala & Kokatha man who is a member of the Stolen Generations.
This song represents the difficult struggles faced by many members of the Aboriginal and Islander Stolen Generations as they continue to navigate the trauma and perpetual grief imposed upon them by assimilation policies of the colonisers and a life time of lateral violence and racism.

What they did is abominable – dark years of shame to be remembered from the race of whites. And I am white … I visited Australia a couple of times. I made a comment to a friend “don’t you know you are all “guests”. The only true Australian is the aboriginal?”. Needless to say it didn’t go down well. What was the other thing the colonials used say? oh yes, something like “let’s breed the black out of them”. OMG
….. they did to the Red Indian Nation, they did to the tribesmen they stole from Africa, they did to you. The arrogance of the British Empire never ceases to amaze me. I am so sorry.
